A guide to microgreens flavors

Compare mild leaves, crunchy shoots and peppery varieties before building your next basket.

Keep it mild

Broccoli brings a gentle broccoli flavor and a tender bite. Red Russian Kale is mild and gently nutty, while Purple Kohlrabi is subtly sweet. Use these as a finishing touch when you want the rest of your meal to remain the main flavor. A simple toast, egg dish or grain bowl gives you room to notice the greens.

Add crunch and sweetness

Pea shoots are sweet and green, with leafy stems and curling tendrils. Sunflower is nutty and crisp, with broader leaves. Try pea shoots in a wrap or sunflower in a chopped salad. They have different textures from the smaller leafy varieties, which is also why our planned standard packs contain a different weight.

Bring a peppery finish

Rambo Radish, Daikon Radish, arugula and mustard are options for a bolder bite. Start with less than you think you need, taste, and add more if you like it. Peppery greens pair well with milder or creamy ingredients such as avocado. The exact intensity can vary from crop to crop.

Single varieties or a blend?

A single-variety pack lets you get to know one flavor. Our Lakefront Salad Mix combines broccoli, kale, kohlrabi, arugula and red cabbage. Spicy Mix combines Rambo Radish, Daikon Radish, mustard and arugula. Check the blend’s product page for its full ingredient list. A mix-and-match Medley is different: it contains separate packs that you choose.
